Past & Present Beneficiaries of the Fund

Joshua Law

Was supported by Jayne’s fund for a period of 5 years, after joining the choir of Southwell Minster, whilst Paul Hale was the Rector Chori. Joshua became Head Chorister in the academic year 2015/16 and the fund continued to support him during the difficult transitional year for boy choristers, after his voice changed. Joshua’s parents used to transport him from some considerable distance to enable him to be in the choir at Southwell which was a large commitment both in terms of resources and time. Joshua’s musical talents were not only limited to singing, but he was also a drummer and member of the Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Pippa Judge

Was the first person to benefit from a bursary for singing tuition from Jayne’s Fund whilst she was a pupil at Loughborough High School. During this period of time, she sang soprano in the Leicester Church Music Consort and has sung at most of England’s greatest Cathedrals, including Westminster Abbey, York Minster, Winchester, Liverpool, Ripon and Gloucester Cathedrals, Bath Abbey and St George’s Chapel, Windsor. Pippa studied at the University of Worcester and is now a primary school teacher in Leicestershire.

Pippa

Gracie Molloy

Is one of the more recent students to receive a bursary from Jayne’s Fund towards her music tuition whilst studying medicine at Leicester University. During the time of her bursary Gracie will be a soprano in the Leicester Church Music Consort and will sing weekend residencies at Winchester, Wells and Norwich Cathedrals in addition to other major Cathedrals throughout England in the next 5 years. Prior to this Gracie was a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral and whilst there also studied at the King’s School, Canterbury where she secured an academic scholarship (King’s Scholar) and a choral exhibition. She was also a student at the Trinity Laban Junior Music Conservatoire in London studying primarily voice and has recorded and performed extensively with the Canterbury Cathedral Girls’ Choir since joining in 2015, including live radio and television broadcasts, in addition to performing as a soloist whilst a member of the King’s School Crypt Choir.

Norolf October 2015 & Annie

Annie McChrystal

Has had a great love for music from a young age. Jayne’s fund supported her for a number of years when she was a student at Sir Jonathan North Community College in Leicester, an 11-16 all girls comprehensive school. Her first piano teacher was Marlene Fleet who fired up her passion for the instrument and for music generally. Annie was successful in gaining a scholarship from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and is now studying with Julia Freeman at St Catherine's School, Bramley, where she is the Junior Jennifer Bate Organ Scholar. Annie particularly enjoys the collaborative element of chamber music work and accompanying; she is also a competent violinist. Annie has had regular competitive success at various local festivals and won the final of the Woking Young Musician of the Year in 2020 and is starting to perform regularly as a guest soloist at concerts in the area.

Ellie McClay

Jayne’s fund supported her through a master's degree in Music at Edinburgh University and then courses in instrument making in Newark. Ellie now teaches music privately and in a number of schools in Leicestershire and concerts by her students have been held, the proceeds of which have helped support the ongoing fund raising for Jayne’s Memorial Fund.

Daniel Bussey

Was supported through his musical theatre studies in America including time in his 4th and final year at Houghton College, New York in 2020, after which he is hoping to continue his studies with a master's in voice.

Seen here in an article following an audition to the National Association of Teachers of Singing's (NATS) National Musical Theater Competition of which he

Ellie Robinson

Until the pandemic started, the fund supported a Year 10 student, Ellie Robinson for a number of years at Sir Jonathan North College by giving support for the cost of her saxophone lessons. A change of policy and structure at the school meant that she was no longer eligible for support from the Governors’ Music Tuition Subsidy Fund.

Ellie's father passed away and her mother was in full-time education, so this enabled her to continue her lessons and carry on playing with the highly respected Leicestershire Arts bands on a Saturday morning.

Maizie York

Since 2023, the Jayne Morley Memorial Fund has been supporting Maizie in her musical education as she studies the cello. Her teacher, Ellie, is a former recipient of the fund. The assistance provided has allowed Maizie to make significant progress in learning the cello.
